China’s restrictions on the import of recovered paper not only affect buyers and sellers of those specific grades, but could have a significant and lasting impact on the entire global pulp and paper industry.
As the restrictions persist, Chinese producers who import RCP will have to find a replacement. The numbers are staggering. The amount of SOP, ONP and MP imported by Chinese producers is equivalent to 30% of the entire global production of Hardwood Market Pulp.
